So this weekend was a whole lot of fun, although I was busy as all christ. Friday we went over to Britt and Lauren's place for some drinks and we saw /children of men/. It was awesome, by awesome I mean incredibly depressing. I'm torn as to whether bobby would've liked that movie. In one sense, it was amazingly depressing. In another sense, it was about a post viral/apocalyptic future.
Saturday, was the day of the Project Sphere show at Redtail. It was part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival. It most certainly felt very cyberartsy. The show was alot of fun, although there was this one dipshit that I would've liked to knee in the groin.
The dipshit in question was one of the people who apparently took out some area in the space. While we were playing, he walks up to the mixer (we were submixing our own set) and he says some thing like "Oh, I think that vocals are too low" and he turned them up.
What a fucking rod. Had I been less of a grownup, I think that I probably would've hit him in the kneecaps with the mixer. I'm far too professional for that.
After he walked away, I put the vocal back to the level that it was and oddly enough, he didn't seem to complain again.
What a dickbag. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that was in the top 5 things that have annoyed me most during a live performance. Thus we ended up leaving right after the show.
There were a few people that I knew there. I didn't really publicize the show. Actually, I didn't really say much about the show as I also gave notice this past week. This was really emotional for me, as I really love my job. My boss and I went outside and smoked a cigar, to just hang for a bit and discuss the future. It was very cool, although, it's going to make me very upset to know that I wont be coming back there.
Sunday was a pretty much a rest day. I tried to take my car to get an oil change, but the place was closed for sunday. So I ended up playing a bit of final fantasy when rachel went out shopping with her friend. Eventually, when she came back, we'd settled in to watch a movie and a bit of the game. As I've got to be in early tomorrow, I'm not sure if I'm going to watch all of it. It'd be nice for a sweep though.
We also looked at a bunch of places to live. We're moving. We have to do that.
*I've just been informed by Rachel that I was not in fact busy.

If you could eat anything you wanted, and not have to worry about gaining weight/being unhealthy/inhumane, what would you totally pig out on?
Submitted by Jay.
Sushi, but I do that anyway. Oh, and pickles and cigarettes.

Over the next few days I've been swamped at work, which is interesting and doesn't happen that often. Rachel has been awesome. Tonight, she actually came with me to help me video the Russian class awards dinner. All of the people there (except the students) seemed to think that we'd all had kids in the school.
I'm sleepy. I want a beach house. Those are two unrelated things.
On another note. I've been obsessed with listening to The Autumns again. For those who don't know them, they're on Simon Reymonde's label Bella Union, it's kind of like if Radiohead and The Cocteau Twins had a baby and raised it in LA. This is their best album as I see it:

Kurt Vonnegut died. What an incredible loss. What an amazing person.

What are the 10 most memorable music performances you've seen? (Remember, "memorable" may not be good.)
Submitted by Bill.1. Ween opening up for Fugazi at City Gardens in Jersey. This was the worst line up that I've ever seen. People started throwing things at them
2. Skinny Puppy on the Too Dark Park tour at the Ritz in NYC. I've never seen anything on stage like it before or since.
3. The Cure on the Prayer Tour at Giants Stadium - Nuff said.
4. Einsturzende Neubauten, Caberet Voltaire and Frontline Assembly at the Ritz NYC. At the afterparty, I got to meet Debbie Harry and Bernard Sumner helped me pick up a girl!!!
5. Psychic TV on the Beyond the Infinite Beat tour at the Ritz in NYC in 1991. Very spiritual, I think.
6. Morrissey on the first US tour. We had front row seats and Morrissey pulled my friend on stage and she passed out. It was awesome.
7. Depeche Mode on the Violator Tour at Giants Stadium in Jersey. It was with JAMC and Nitzer Ebb.
8. Jesus and Mary Chain on the Automatic Tour at the Ritz in NYC. It got cancelled the first time. But even with the cancellation, it was fucking insane.
9. The Cocteau Twins at the Orpheum in Boston. Things I can't talk about happened at that show.
10. Dead Can Dance at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston. It was the show where Lisa Gerrard passed out on stage. Very Memorable.
10a. Rachel singing Jewish Prayer songs. It was awesome. She was complimented by the cantor.

So, eventually we're going to move to either Jersey or New York. There's so many things that I'll miss about boston. There's the music scene that I'm pretty entrenched in, the friends that I've made over the past years that I won't see as much as I have a moments before and then there's the one thing that's unique to boston.
It's funny, I never really liked baseball before moving up here. I actually thought that it was kind of a bore. But since a few years before the sox got to the playoffs (pre-world series), I've found myself really looking forward to baseball season. Right now, I'm sitting here watching the game, and getting so into it.
Even though it's against the Royals. However this means that they'll probably win. I was in Toronto with Rachel, her parents, my parents and my sister. We were in a pub having lunch and I saw that the sox lost the first game of the season. It put a slight shadow on the day. Granted that shadow was cleared up, as soon as Rachel started singing in hebrew!
Lemme tell ya, it's pretty hot!
But in seriousness, I'm not sure if I could become a yankee fan.
On another note, today I've been listening to:
The only thing that I could think is that it sounded so
different from Mommy's Little Monster. However, SD
continue to rock my socks off.
